Restorative Dentistry in Spokane Valley, WA

If you have a tooth that is damaged or missing, restorative dentistry can help return it to its full function and appearance. Restorative dentistry refers to procedures that address oral damage. For teeth damaged from decay, fillings or crowns can be used to repair the tooth. But if the damage is too severe for a simple filling to fix, a crown can be used to restore the shape and function of that tooth. At Serenity Dental, we can do all of these and, if a tooth is completely lost or missing, replace that tooth with a dental implant or a dental bridge.

Types of Restorative Dentistry Procedures

Dental Fillings

A filling is used to restore the tooth structure after removing the decay from a cavity. These fillings come in various materials and forms, including gold, amalgam, composite resin, porcelain, and more. The filling is bonded to the affected tooth, restoring its size, shape, and strength.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown may be placed when a tooth is damaged beyond the point that it cannot be repaired with a standard filling. But if a tooth or row of teeth are missing, a bridge may be used to restore them. Both procedures are permanent restorations that restore a patient’s smile: a crown completely covers the tooth’s visible portion while a bridge replaces a missing tooth or teeth. Either of these provides structural support while preventing further damage from occurring.

Dentures

A denture is an appliance used to replace up to a whole arch of missing teeth in either or both the upper and lower jaws. There are two types of dentures available, partial and complete. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain in the row. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing. These appliances are removable and should be cared for regularly to keep them clean and functioning well.

The Benefits of Restorative Dentistry

Repairing Damaged Teeth and Replacing Lost Teeth

We repair and replace teeth every day using a variety of techniques. The significant benefit of restorative dentistry is improving the functionality of your teeth so that you can chew, bite, speak, and smile normally again. From the placement of a simple filling to complex operations such as full mouth reconstruction, our dentists will work with you to restore your smile.

Preventing Further Damage to Your Teeth

One of the most common services dentists perform is fillings. Fillings are necessary when a tooth has suffered from decay and been damaged to the point that it can no longer effectively bite and chew food.

Tooth decay often begins with neglect and poor dental hygiene, making it essential for patients to get regular cleanings and exams so that their dentist can spot and treat problems as soon as possible.
